Project Alay Lakad Pamatid Uhaw Marks 12th Year of Serving Pilgrims in Tayabas

April 2, 2026

As thousands of pilgrims made their annual Alay Lakad journey through Tayabas, Quezon, a familiar stop along the route offered more than refreshments—it offered a moment of care. At Calle Maior Bakery, volunteers welcomed participants with cups of hot coffee, fresh bread, and drinking water, providing comfort and renewed energy for the road ahead.

For the 12th consecutive year, Project Alay Lakad Pamatid Uhaw continued its tradition of service through the joint efforts of the Rotary Club of Lucena South and the Rotaract Club of Lucena South. Held as part of the annual Alay Lakad, the initiative was organized to support pilgrims by providing free refreshments throughout their journey while promoting compassion and community service.

The project's primary objective was to help pilgrims regain their strength by offering free water, coffee, and bread during their long walk. Beyond meeting a physical need, the activity also served as a reminder that acts of kindness and volunteerism remain essential in strengthening communities.

Throughout the night, volunteers worked together to serve thousands of pilgrims. Each cup of coffee, loaf of bread, and bottle of water became part of a collective effort to encourage participants as they continued their journey. The refreshment station stood not only as a place to rest, but also as a visible expression of unity, service, and faith in action.

The organizers acknowledged the support of JMar Marketing – Markcafe Official, Calle Maior Bakery, and the project's partners, volunteers, and supporters, whose contributions helped make the annual initiative possible.

Now in its 12th year, Project Alay Lakad Pamatid Uhaw continues to demonstrate how a longstanding tradition of volunteer service can leave a meaningful impact. As pilgrims carried on with their walk, the project once again reflected the enduring value of communities coming together to serve others through simple yet meaningful acts of generosity.
