Three Schools, One Commitment: Rotaract Club of Lucena South Advances Brigada Eskwela 2026

From June 2 to 4, 2026, classrooms and school grounds across Lucena City and Tayabas City became centers of volunteerism as the Rotaract Club of Lucena South carried out a three-day Brigada Eskwela 2026 initiative. Working alongside educators, volunteers, and community partners, the club visited three public schools to donate cleaning and maintenance supplies and support campus improvement efforts ahead of the opening of classes.

The initiative formed part of the nationwide Brigada Eskwela program, which encourages community participation in preparing public schools for the new academic year. Through visits to Lucena City National High School–Ilayang Dupay Extension, Mayao Crossing Elementary School, and Potol Elementary School, the Rotaract Club of Lucena South contributed resources and volunteer service to help create clean, safe, and conducive learning environments for students, teachers, and school personnel.

The first stop on June 2 was Lucena City National High School–Ilayang Dupay Extension in Barangay Ilayang Dupay, Lucena City, where the club turned over cleaning and maintenance supplies to support the school's clean-up and maintenance activities. During the visit, members also explored future collaboration opportunities, particularly projects that could strengthen the school's advocacy as a rural farm school and create additional opportunities for its learners.

On June 3, the club continued its Brigada Eskwela efforts at Mayao Crossing Elementary School through the coordination of PDRR Darius B. Sarmiento. Along with donating essential cleaning and maintenance supplies, Rotaract members participated in painting and campus clean-up activities, contributing their time and effort to improve the school's facilities before the start of classes.

The three-day initiative concluded on June 4 at Potol Elementary School in Barangay Potol, Tayabas City, Quezon. As a long-time partner of the school in Brigada Eskwela and other community initiatives, the club once again provided cleaning and maintenance supplies to help prepare classrooms and school facilities for another productive academic year, reinforcing a partnership built through years of community service.

Although each school had its own priorities and needs, the initiative shared a common objective: supporting school readiness through volunteerism and collaboration. By reaching three schools over three consecutive days, the project demonstrated how coordinated community action can help strengthen public education while extending assistance to more learners and educators.

The initiative aligns with Rotary's Area of Focus on Basic Education and Literacy and reflects the Avenue of Service on Community Service by encouraging collective action in support of quality education. Beyond preparing classrooms for the opening of classes, the project underscored the importance of partnerships, volunteerism, and shared responsibility in creating learning environments where students can learn, grow, and thrive.

The Rotaract Club of Lucena South expressed its gratitude to the administrations of Lucena City National High School–Ilayang Dupay Extension, Mayao Crossing Elementary School, and Potol Elementary School; PDRR Darius B. Sarmiento; volunteers; and community partners whose support made the three-day initiative possible. Their shared commitment embodied the spirit of Bayanihan, demonstrating how communities can work together to build stronger schools and brighter opportunities for every learner.

Through one coordinated Brigada Eskwela initiative spanning three schools, the Rotaract Club of Lucena South reaffirmed its commitment to education, community partnership, and volunteer service—showing that every classroom prepared and every campus improved is an investment in the future of the communities they serve.
