On November 22, the Rotary Club of Lucena South, led by President Francisco “Kits” Lagman, celebrated its 55th Charter Anniversary with a day of meaningful service in Barangay Dalahican.
The club was joined by its international partner, the Rotary Club of Jinju Bibong of Korea under President Park Jungeon, and the Rotaract Club of Lucena South, headed by Assistant District President Luigi Oblena. Together, the organizations carried out two major initiatives supporting the Badjao community.
Project HANDOG: Groceries for 200 Badjao Families
The program opened with Project HANDOG, a relief effort aimed at helping address food scarcity in the community. Rotarians and Rotaractors distributed grocery packs to 200 Badjao families, offering essential supplies while fostering connection and compassion—a reflection of Rotary’s commitment to uplifting underserved groups.

Project COMFY: Groundbreaking of the Community’s First Toilet Facility
A milestone moment followed with the launch of Project COMFY, highlighted by the groundbreaking of the first-ever toilet facility in the Badjao settlement. For a community that has long lacked adequate sanitation, this project marks a crucial step toward better health, hygiene, and overall living conditions. The ceremony signaled the beginning of sustainable improvements that will benefit families for years to come.
Strength in Collaboration
The combined efforts of Pres. Kits Lagman, Pres. Park Jungeon, and ADP Luigi Oblena showcased the power of partnership—local, international, and inter-club. Their unified commitment ensured the successful delivery of both humanitarian initiatives.
A Meaningful 55th Anniversary Celebration
Rather than commemorating their anniversary through a traditional gathering alone, the Rotary Club of Lucena South chose to honor its 55-year legacy with purposeful, hands-on service. The success of Project HANDOG and Project COMFY stands as a testament to the club’s continued dedication to creating hope and meaningful change within the communities it serves—reflecting the true spirit of its 55 remarkable years.
