RAC Lucena South Promotes Nutrition and Preparedness in “G3+G: Go, Grow, Glow (+Go!)” Project

TAYABAS CITY, July 27 – In a combined observance of Nutrition Month and Disaster Risk Reduction Month, the Rotaract Club of Lucena South (RACLS) conducted its latest community outreach initiative, “G3+G: Go, Grow, Glow (+Go!)” at Malao-a/Calantas Elementary School in Tayabas City. The project reached 65 students and engaged both parents and teachers in discussions about health, nutrition, and disaster preparedness.

Welcomed by school principal Elpidia Palayan, the event began with an engaging nutrition talk led by Club Secretary Claude, who explained the Go, Grow, and Glow food groups in simple, relatable terms. Students learned the importance of eating a balanced and nutritious diet to support their growth and learning.

Meanwhile, Past President Vincent hosted a cooking demonstration for parents, featuring a healthy and budget-friendly recipe—Cheesy Malunggay Chicken Nuggets. The session emphasized the value of using local, affordable ingredients to prepare nutritious meals for children at home. Parents were encouraged to ask questions and share their own experiences, making the session both informative and interactive.

In alignment with Disaster Risk Reduction Month and in anticipation of the upcoming typhoon season, RACLS also donated raincoats, solar-powered emergency lights, and first aid kits to the school. These supplies were intended not just for students, but more importantly, for community leaders and school personnel who play key roles in emergency response during natural disasters.

After the main program, RACLS members spent time in fellowship with the teachers, discussing the school’s ongoing needs and potential future collaborations. The open dialogue allowed both the club and school staff to explore how RACLS could continue supporting the school through sustainable and meaningful projects.

To cap off the day, the club traveled to Lucban, Quezon, where members shared lunch together and attended Mass as part of their regular fellowship. This final leg of the activity provided a moment of reflection and connection, reinforcing the spirit of service and camaraderie that drives the club’s mission.

Through “G3+G: Go, Grow, Glow (+Go!)”, the Rotaract Club of Lucena South once again demonstrated its commitment to holistic community development—nurturing both the health and safety of children while building stronger relationships with schools and local leaders.
